Director of Food Hall Ops & Guest Experience

CoHop is seeking an energetic and motivated Director of Food Hall Operations and Guest Experience. CoHop is an exciting new startup beer and restaurant concept focused on empowering food and beer entrepreneurs and improving their chances of success.

The Director of Food Hall Operations and Guest Experience will work closely with site leadership to plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the Food Hall, catering, and events business. Duties and responsibilities include managing daily operations, ensuring excellent guest experiences, formulating policies, and planning the use of materials and human resources. Job functions are diverse and wide-ranging in application, encompassing management and administration, also to include personnel, purchasing, and general administrative services.


  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of CoHop

  • Review financial statements, sales & activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.

  • Direct and coordinate operations, service, menu, food hall environment, cleanliness standards, management development service style/system, food safety and internal marketing initiatives across multiple units.

  • Coordinate activities between all departments for smooth and efficient implementation of food and beverage initiatives, service initiatives, operational updates, and training programs.

  • Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.

  • Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.

  • Lead the design, implementation, and integration of new and existing training programs, operations manuals, continuing education, assessments, resources, processes, and initiatives that establish a brand wide culture of continuous learning.

  • Conduct weekly briefing reports for management.  

  • Plan or direct activities such as sales promotions or special events that require coordination with other third parties

  • Facilitate open discussions and communication with team members, and other business or vendor partners to improve organizational efficiencies and practices.

  • Analyze menu, cost of items, price of items, and movement to maintain the most profitable product mix. Develop or implement product-marketing strategies, including advertising campaigns or sales promotions.

  • Implement or oversee environmental management or sustainability programs addressing issues such as recycling, conservation, or waste management.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of annual events and company meetings as required.

  • Recommend locations for new facilities, plan restaurant layouts, or oversee the remodeling or renovating of current facilities. Complete other tasks, projects and job duties as assigned and/or deemed appropriate.

  • Troubleshoot issues with POS provider on issues that cannot be resolved internally.



  • Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 10+ years experience of progressive responsibility leading and effectively managing teams and guest experience in the hospitality industry.

  • Proven abilities in hiring, training and management of production and technical personnel.

  • Strong desire to help build a new organization with an uncompromising focus on guest experience

  • Exceptional analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.  A quality focused and detail oriented mindset is a requirement.

  • Experience working with craft beer and brewing industry.

  • Excellent leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and motivate a team and maintain a positive workplace culture.  Ability to develop and manage productive relationships with staff members.

  • A strong understanding of process controls.  Knowledge of high efficiency and high quality business systems (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.

  • Extensive knowledge of industry compliance standards: including but not limited to board of health, OSHA and safety standards, Government regulatory programs, etc.

  • Professional communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.  A strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to changing situations

  • Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel spreadsheets.

  • Frequently walk and occasionally bend over, twist, kneel, climb, stoop and crouch.  This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours is required, including off shifts.
